Economic Requirements

The incomelevelsofthenon-lucrativevisa established bythe law are the minimum required, and an application showing this level of income is usually rejected. It is highly recommended that you demonstrate higher amounts than those specified.

The figures are based on the Public Indicator of Multiple Effect Incomes (IPREM) and the applicant must demonstrate that they have at least 400% of the specified amount. The current specifications require that the applicant must demonstrate that they have an income of €2259.60 per month (564.90 x 4), plus €564.90 for each extra family member.

It must be demonstrated that these amounts can be maintained for at least one year. It is possible to combine savings and (passive) income to reach the minimum level required for the non-lucrative visa.

It is intended for retirees and passive investors. This visa does not allow you to work in Spain, but it allows studying, and requires proof of sufficient financial means to support yourself and, if applicable, your family. The initial duration of this visa is 1 year, and the first two renewals are valid for periods of 2 years. After the third renewal, you may choose to apply for a long-term residency.*
