Process & Timeline
Initial Stages (Months 1–18
Involves due diligence, document preparation, obtaining a tax ID (NIF), and opening a Portuguese bank account.
Residence Permit
Once issued, the temporary residence permit is valid for two years.
Renewals (Years 2 & 4)
The permit can be renewed for successive two-year periods provided eligibility requirements and minimum physical stay rules (14 days per 2-year period) are met.
Permanent Residency (Year 5
